Visit of the Ambassador - the Chairman of the Arbitration Tribunal for dispute over the inter-entity demarcation line in the Brcko area and the First Deputy High Representative and Supervisor

 

His Excellency John Clint Williamson, Ambassador-Chairman of the Arbitration Tribunal for the Inter-Entity Boundary Dispute Arrangement in the Brcko Area and Mr. Michael Scanlan, First Deputy High Representative and Supervisor for the Brcko District, visited the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 5 September 2019.

His Excellency Ambassador Williamson and Mr. Scanlan, during their working visit, were received by the President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Zlatko M. Knezević, Vice-Presidents of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mato Tadic and Mirsad Ceman.

President Knezevic and Vice-Presidents Tadic and Ceman discussed the work and functioning of the Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Ambassador Williamson and Mr. Scanlan. It was emphasized that the jurisdiction of the Arbitration Tribunal for the Brcko District is to be continued until the conditions for the end of supervision are met. The very good work of the ordinary courts in the Brcko District was underlined, and it was also pointed out that in the cases within the appellate jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court of BiH concerning the challenged decisions of the ordinary courts in the Brcko District, the Constitutional Court finds the least number of violations of human rights protected by the Constitution of BiH compared to other ordinary courts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the meeting, they have exchanged the experiences on successful cooperation so far between the OHR and the Constitutional Court of BiH.

Ambassador Williamson and Mr. Scanlan expressed their gratitude for warm reception, exchanging of views and for receiving information from President Knezevic and Vice Presidents Tadic and Ceman during the visit. They emphasized the importance of the role of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the legal system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and wished the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a successful continuation of its work.
