Visit of Representatives from the Prosecutor's Office of the Swiss Confederation

On 2 July 2025, the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina was visited by representatives from the Prosecutor's Office of the Swiss Confederation: David Zog, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, and Umberto Pajarola, Head of the Department for Organized Crime.

The representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Swiss Confederation were received by the President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirsad Ćeman, and Judge Larisa Velić.

President Ćeman introduced the visitors to the constitutional status, organization, and functioning of the Constitutional Court of BiH under the current circumstances, with special emphasis on abstract review of constitutionality and appellate jurisdiction. He presented relevant statistical data and highlighted issues related to the enforcement of the Constitutional Court’s decisions.

The participants specifically discussed the role and position of the Constitutional Court of BiH within the constitutional structure of the country, the importance of its decisions within the legal system of Bosnia and Herzegovina—particularly in the protection of human rights and freedoms—as well as the obligation of their implementation.

Both sides emphasized and supported the successful long-term cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Office of the Swiss Confederation and the competent authorities and institutions in BiH within the framework of the ongoing cooperation program.

The representatives of the Swiss Confederation expressed their gratitude for the reception, the exchange of opinions, and the information provided by President Ćeman and Judge Velić, and wished the Constitutional Court of BiH continued success in its work.
