President Galić paid a working visit to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg

The President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Valerija Galić and the Head of the Office of the President Erda Začiragić participated in the seminar entitled “Judicial dialogue through the advisory opinion mechanism under Protocol No. 16”, organized by the European Court of Human Rights. The seminar took place on 13 October 2023 at the European Court in Strasbourg. 

The seminar was opened by the President of the European Court, Síofra O'Leary, and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić. It was organized in two sessions. The first session was entitled “Different perspectives of access to Protocol no. 16” and the second session entitled “Specific lessons learned from the first proceedings under Protocol no. 16.” The objective of the seminar was to take stock, five years on, of how the advisory opinion mechanism operates, to elaborate the guidelines provided to requesting courts, and to look to the future of the Protocol.

During the visit, President Galić met with the President and Judges of the European Court of Human Rights, Presidents and Judges of other European courts, and other seminar participants, whom she exchanged opinions with on the topic of the seminar and discussed other current topics.
