On Monday, March 30, the Hanns Seidel Foundation in Bosnia and Herzegovina organized an educational visit to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of its long-standing program ‘Parliament and Politics in Practice’, which is aimed at enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of young people in the field of politics and public administration.
The aim of the module dedicated to the constitutional judiciary is to give participants direct insight into the role, powers and functioning of one of most important institutions in the country.
During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to attend a professional lecture by representatives of the Constitutional Court of BiH, through which they became more familiar with the Court’s decision-making processes, the importance of constitutional safeguards and the institution’s role in upholding the constitutional order and the rule of law. A special part of the program was an interactive simulation of a proceeding for review of constitutionality ("moot court"), for which participants had prepared in advance through a workshop organized with the mentoring support of legal experts.
The program brings together around 20 participants from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including students and young professionals interested in political processes, law and public policy. Through a combination of theoretical and practical work, participants are provided with a unique opportunity to develop a critical understanding of how institutions function, as well as to enhance their analytical and argumentation skills.
For many years, the Hanns Seidel Foundation has been actively contributing to the development of a democratic political culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina through programs focused on education, dialogue and cooperation with relevant institutions and the professional community. The ‘Parliament and Politics in Practice’ program represents one of the key components of this engagement, with a focus on empowering young leaders and their active inclusion in social processes.
Franjo Dragičević, Head of the Review of the Constitutionality Section and Armin Imamović, Senior Legal Advisor, engaged the students in a discussion of all relevant constitutional law issues, offering direct insight into the practical aspects of the institution’s work.
