Working Meeting with the Representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina



President of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Mirsad Ceman together with the Vice-Presidents, Mato Tadic and Zlatko Knezevic, Secretary General, Natasa Vukovic and Registrar, Zvonko Mijan, met today with the representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting was attended by the Chair of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, Milan Tegeltija, Vice-Presidents Jadranka Lokmić-Misirača and Ružica Jukić, Chief Disciplinary Prosecutor Arben Murtezic, Deputy Director of Secretariat Hajro Poskovic and Counselor for International Relations, Francesco Caruso.

The meeting was held as a part of the initiative of the Constitutional Court of BiH which was sent to the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which could, within the scope of their constitutional jurisdiction and responsibilities, have influence on securing better conditions for work and functioning of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

At the meeting, the discussion was held on the current issues important for the functioning of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the role of both the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council and Constitutional Court in exercising the rule of law and allowing for effectiveness of the judicial system in BiH with an emphasis on preventing violation of rights to a fair trial and elimination of consequences of violation of that particular right.

Accordingly, it was stressed that a continued cooperation and exchange of information is necessary on all grounds representing a common interest of both the Constitutional Court of BiH and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH.

A particular attention was given to the enforcement of decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH. The representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH were briefed on the positions adopted by the Constitutional Court of BiH at the 20th session of the Grand Chamber held on 14 May 2015 on the issue.

The representatives of both the Constitutional Court of BiH and the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH have agreed that the resolution of the issues and concerns discussed will certainly contribute to exercising of the constitutionality and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in BiH.
