President of the Constitutional Court of Bih Valerija Galić attending the Forum in Belgrade

President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Valerija Galić and Head of the Office of the President Erda Začiragić participated in the work of the second Gender Equality and the Western Balkans Forum from 2 to 3 June 2023.

Forum was organised by the AIRE Centre with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom. The Forum attended the President of the European Court of Human Rights Ms. Síofra O'Leary, present and former judges of the European Court of Human Rights, presidents of the courts, judges and experts from the region as well as the international experts. Judge Galić met with the attendees and exchanged opinion on both topic of the Conference and other current issues. President Galić is also a member of the Network (GCJ Network) of female and male judges dedicated to the advancement of gender equality.

The work of the Forum was organized in the form of the panel discussions and working groups. The participants of the Forum focused on the key principles on gender equality arising under the case law of the European Court of Human Rights. They addressed various key topics such as gender-based violence, gender stereotyping in judiciary and gender-based discrimination in the context of employment, public, private and family life.
