President Knežević and Vice-Presidents Tadić and Ćeman attending the XXI International Congress on European Comparative and Constitutional Law

 

At the invitation of Mr. Rainer Arnold, Professor at the University of Regensburg, the President and Vice-Presidents of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Zlatko M. Knežević, Mr. Mato Tadić and Mr Mirsad Ćeman are attending the XXI International Congress on European Comparative and Constitutional Law, held in Madrid, Spain, from 18 to 20 February 2019. The subject of the Congress is the “the Modern Concept of the Rule of Law and its Development by Constitutional Justice”.

This Congress, with a long-standing tradition, had been held in Regensburg for eighteen years, in Kishinev together with the Constitutional Court of Moldavia in 2017, and on its twentieth anniversary it was held at the University of Gdansk. This year, the Congress in company with Biennial Congress of the World Jurist Association (WJA) takes place in Madrid.

The Congress will gather presidents and judges of the constitutional courts and internationally renowned academics from many countries for common reflection and debate on important issues of contemporary constitutionalism. The Spanish King Felipe VI will be present on the last day of the Congress and will receive the World Peace & Liberty Award.

President Knežević will present his paper entitled “The Decisive Role of the Constitutional Court in Resolving Social Conflicts - the Tendency of a Contemporary Constitutionality in the Case of Bosnia and Herzegovina” during the second day of the Congress. During the closing session of the Congress, which is dedicated to the motto “Peace Through Law”, President Knežević will address in a speech His Majesty King Felipe, honourable high officials and other participants of the Congress. President Knežević and Vice-Presidents Tadić and Ćeman will also participate in discussions related to the subject of the Congress.
