Former President of the Constitutional Court of BiH Hatidža Hadžiosmanović passes away

Hatidža Hadžiosmanović, honourable former Judge and former President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has passed away on Tuesday 22 December 2015 in Sarajevo, at the age of 78.

The funeral will take place on Thursday, 24 December, at 13.30 hrs, at the City Cemetery “Bare”.

Hatidža Hadžiosmanović was born on 19 August 1938 in Sarajevo.

She graduated from the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo on 30 June 1962 and passed the judicial exam in 1967 with honours.

From 1957 to 1967 she was the Head of the Legal Service of the Sarajevo Tobacco Company, thereafter through to 2002 she exercised the office of a judge of regular courts for 36 years, as follows: the Municipal Court I in Sarajevo 1967-1971, the County Court 1972-1988, presently Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, from 1988 to the dissolution of Yugoslavia and the recognition of the Republic of BiH the Supreme Court of SRBiH, thereafter the Supreme Court of RBiH to 1995, i.e. to the signing of the Dayton Agreement, and from then on, the Supreme Court of the Federation of BiH up until 30 July 2002. She was elected as a Judge of the Constitutional Court of BiH on 30 July 2002. She discharged the office of the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of BiH from 1 April 2005 to 27 May 2006, when she assumed the office of the President of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

The entire professional life of Judge Hatidža Hadžiosmanović was dedicated to law, theoretical and practical work in economy, first-instance, appellate, cassation and constitutional judiciary.
