Visit of the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina

 
 
Ms. Mary Ann Hennessey, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, paid a visit today to the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At the meeting, the President of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Valerija Galic, with her associates and Ms. Mary Ann Hennessey, exchanged experience on current cooperation between the Constitutional Court of BiH, Council of Europe and European Court of Human Rights as well as on cooperation with the European Commission for Democracy Through Law (Venice Commission) in terms of promoting and improving human rights protection.

The particular attention was given to the issue of enforcement of decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A particular emphasis was placed on the significance of enforcement of these decisions for the consistency of the legal order but also on the significance of the court decisions in general from the aspect of human rights and fundamental freedoms protection.

Ms. Hennessey emphasized that the Council of Europe conveys its support to the work and results achieved by the Constitutional Court while particularly emphasizing the significance and role of the Constitutional Court in the legal order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On this occasion, the President presented the monograph “Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina 1964-2014” dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the constitutional justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
