Study Visit of the Legal Advisors of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Court of Human Rights and Institutions of the Council of Europe



Legal advisors of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina together with the legal advisors of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the period from 12 to 15 February 2018 stayed in Strasbourg within a study visit to the European Court of Human Rights and Institutions of the Council of Europe. Study visits was arranged by the AIRE Centre of London in order for the participants from BiH to get acquainted with the work of the European Court and institutions for the protection of human rights of the Council of Europe.

Study visit included attendance of the hearing of the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights in the case Murtazaliyeva vs Russia, a lecture on the work of the European Court and on the work of the Department for the Execution of the Enforcement of Judgments of the ECtHR, Committee for the Prevention of Torture, Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, and the Group of States against Corruption - GRECO.

The visit took place within the project implemented by the AIRE Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of the British Embassy in Sarajevo with an aim of improving the implementation of the ECHR standards in BiH and established cooperation between the Court of BiH and AIRE Centre. The previous period marked a number of seminars organized for the judicial associates and advisors from the highest court in BiH on the selected topics regarding human rights protection, as well as cooperation in a number of other activities, including the participation of the AIRE Centre in judicial colleges held by the Court of BiH.
