President Ćeman and Vice-President Tadić attending the International Conference in Sofia



President and Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Mirsad Ćeman and Mr. Mato Tadić respectively have participated in the International Conference titled “Protection of fundamental civil rights and the national security in the modern world. The role of constitutional courts”, held on 21 and 22 September 2016 in Sofia. The Conference has been held on the occasion of 25th Anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria, with the Constitutional Court of this Republic being the organizer.

The Conference has been attended, in addition to President and Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Mirsad Ćeman and Mr. Mato Tadić, by presidents, vice-presidents and judges of constitutional and other courts from almost all over Europe.

The participants were welcomed by Professor Boris Velchev, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Plevneliev, President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ms. Tsetska Tsacheva, Chair of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Boyko Borissov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Gianni Buquicchio, President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (the Venice Commission), Ms. Ekaterina Zaharieva, Minister of Justice, Mr. Lozan Panov, President of the Supreme Court of Cassation, Mr. Georgi Kolev, President of the Supreme Administrative Court, Mr. Sotir Tsatsarov, Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria.

At the plenary session of the Conference, President Ćeman presented before the participants his paper titled Protection of fundamental civil rights and the national security in the modern world. The role of courts.

At the end of the Conference President Ćeman and Vice-President Tadić have met with the host of this Conference, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria, Professor Boris Velchev and the colleagues from Bulgaria, as well as with the judges of constitutional courts from European states and with other participants, whom with they have exchanged the opinions on the topic of the Conference, as well as on other current topics of constitutional justice.
