Sessions    Events    Vacancies     6 October 2009 - The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Bosse Hedberg paid today an official visit to the Constitutional Court of BiH. Ambassador Bosse Hedberg was received by the President of the Constitutional Court of BiH, Prof Dr Miodrag Simović. President Simović informed the Ambassador Hedberg on the work and significant role of the Constitutional Court of BiH as the guardian of the Constitution of BiH and its values. President Simović also emphasized its role in advancing BiH towards Euro-Atlantic integrations, as the interpreter and guardian of the Constitution of BiH and as the last instance in promoting, guaranteeing and protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms of all of its citizens. In addition, President Simović emphasized that the Constitutional Court of BiH should not serve as an „arena for solving political problems“ but exclusively as an independent and impartial institution for resolving constitutional issues arising under its jurisdiction. Ambassador Hedberg informed the President Simović, amongst other things, on the role of the Kingdom of Sweden in the process of judiciary reform. It was concluded that the Constitutional Court of BiH must receive further support and attention of international community considering that the Constitutional Court of BiH is continuously facing new challenges that need to be addressed appropriately. Ambassador Hedberg and President Simović commended the present activities of the Kingdom of Sweden in Bosnia and Herzegovina. On this occasion, they also exchanged specific ideas on improving future bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Back to events
